A Critical Time
I plan to call the local Republican Party Headquarters today. I hope every Republican does the same. The hard left has taken over the Democratic Party and it does not appear to have a program to accomplish anything constructive. Their words and conduct suggest, if not compel, the conclusion that were they in power it would be a disaster for the country and the world. They oppose everything that would be beneficial to the country and lie on a wholesale basis. They are without morals or shame. Their sole motivating desire seems to be personal ambition.
Consider what they stand for:
1. Repealing the tax cuts that have given us the strongest and most vibrant economy in the history of the world. The stock market just broke another record and is approaching $12,000. I remember when pundits were saying that we would never break $10,000.
2. Increasing taxes across-the-board to further enlarge the size of government and increase its intrusion into our lives.
3. Enacting more and more programs for favored groups such as homosexuals, abortionists, and, incredibly, terrorists.
4. Repealing the Patriot Act.
5. Prohibiting NSA wiretapping of phone calls between suspected terrorists and American citizens.
6. Prohibiting NSA data mining of telephone records.
7. Extending all the rights of American citizens to terrorists in Guantánamo and elsewhere.
8. Abandoning Iraq. In other words, cutting and running. The Iraqi government is sound and stable and we have performed and magnificent service for them, ourselves, and the world. The fighting in Iraq is a result of terrorists from the surrounding area (actually, the entire world) coming to Iraq to fight and the support of terrorists by Iran and Syria and, to a lesser extent, Saudi Arabia. This would not only result in a slaughter of the type we witnessed in Cambodia but would also abandon the entire middle east to Islamic terrorists. How long do you think it would be before they destroyed Israel? How long do you think it would be before we had another 9/11? Terrorists all over the world are acquiring and distributing the technology for nuclear weapons. We might be able to hunker down for a short while but we can expect nuclear bombs to go off in multiple major American cities anytime. The risk of that are highly increased by Democratic policies as described above.
9. The most maddening thing to me is the outright lies promulgated by the left. This is the mark of George Soros who does not appear to have any honor whatsoever. I hope everyone has been listening to Sean Hannity and other conservative talk show hosts so that you know what these are. The first and largest was that George Bush lied. This was promulgated upon an allegation by Joe Wilson that Saddam Hussein was not trying to buy yellowcake from Niger. Joe Wilson, a Democratic diplomat, declared that Saddam Hussein did not try to buy yellowcake from Niger. Of course, the left chose to believe Joe Wilson instead of President Bush because it suited their political agenda. They began claiming that George Bush lied to us to get us into his one war with Iraq. One would think that this claim had so little merit or logic to support it that it would not get any currency. That was not the case. Liberals repeated over and over and over the claim that George Bush lied and of course, the major media, which is their willing accomplice, repeated that claim over and over and over as well.
Just to refresh everyone's memory, the statement made by George Bush which is claimed to have been a falsehood, could not, under any stretch of the imagination have been such. He did not say that Saddam Hussein had tried to buy yellow cake from Niger. What he said was that British intelligence reported that Saddam Hussein had been trying to buy nuclear material from Niger. His precise statement was, "The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
That statement was absolutely correct. Tony Blair attested to it and British intelligence, to this day, insists That their information was correct. No one even claims that this was an incorrect statement. Consequently, it cannot be characterized as a lie by any stretch of the imagination. This did not bother the far left at all. Joseph Wilson has been thoroughly discredited and has been shown to be an outright liar himself. Nonetheless, the left chooses to believe him over British intelligence because it suits their purpose.. In this regard, the following exchange should be of interest; "Bush: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." (State of the Union address); Rice: "The statement that he made was indeed accurate. The British government did say that."; Rumsfeld: "It turns out that it's technically correct what the president said, that the U.K. does -- did say that -- and still says that."
This was followed by Dan Rather's deliberate attempt to smear Bush with forged documents on CBS television.
Perhaps, the most egregious was the investigation by the special prosecutor who was appointed to investigate the outing of Valerie Plame, Joseph Wilson's wife which lasted for years and cost the persons being investigated millions of and distracted them from their official duties when the special prosecutor as well as Colin Powell knew from the outset that the person who disclosed the identity of Valerie Plame was not part of the Bush administration. The person who had done so was Richard Armitage, a critic of Bush. This is probably the rankest abuse of the legal process I have ever seen in this country. At least, it's the worst that I can think of. What is even worse is that nothing has been done about it. To my knowledge, the special prosecutor hasn't even been disbarred. This is the least that should happen to him. As far as I'm concerned he should be stripped of his right to practice law, charged with treason, and, if convicted, sentenced and the sentence executed.
I could go on and on and on but I hate to see the hard left profit by their underhanded dishonorable tactics. A more recent example is the Wetterling ad in Wisconsin in which she claimed that members of the Republican leadership in the House had admitted covering up for Mark Foley and then denied that any such admission had been made in an interview on CNN. She is typical of the left. As I have said in the past "liberals are liars". It is their defining characteristic.
I urge everyone who is a voter to go to the polls and to encourage everyone they know who is a voter to go to the polls. The very survival of our nation as we know it is at stake in my view.
